Motorola Droid Razr One of Best Smartphones of 2011

The Droid Razr has been nominated one of the best smartphones of 2011 by many yearly round up posts in a lot of tech blogs. The Droid Razr has a lot of features that the reviewers like such as it's impossible thinness, it's large vivid screen, and it's powerful 8MP main camera and 2MP front-facing camera. The phone runs the Android operating system which is found on 8/10 new smartphones in 2011, putting a ton of pressure on the iPhone.

Verizon Droid Razr Review from Boston Herald

A brand new review from the Boston Herald put the new Verizon Droid Razr in quite a flattering light. The reviewer gives a rundown of all the features on the phone including 4.3 inch LED touchscreen compared to the iPhone's 3.5 inch screen, how it weighs only 4.5 ounces, and comes with a 1.2 gigahertz dual-core processor along with 1 gigabyte of RAM. That's one powerful phone when you put it on Verizon’s 4G LTE wireless network.

One thing in this review that I didn't hear anywhere else is about the Zumocast app that you can install:

"Setting up your e-mail, Facebook and Twitter accounts is a snap and the Motocast app wirelessly connects your computer to your phone. The Razr also features Motorola’s Zumocast, a great app that lets you wireless sync with all the videos, MP3s, pictures and documents on your computer. Install it and you can play anything on your computer over the phone. It’s an amazing feature.And music sounds great through the phone with a good set of earbuds or headphones, providing deep bass and great midrange on vocals."

Motorola Droid Razr Review from Engadget

Engadget has one one of the most thorough and engaging reviews seen yet of the Verizon Razr smartphone, complete with detailed hands on pictures and videos. The review compares the Razr to other smartphones on the market and goes into a history of the storied Razr brand from its start back in 2004 when it hit the market as a fashion phone then had it's price quickly reduced to become a commodity phone for the masses.

The review goes into some more nerdier details such as the processing speeds, the 3D transitions on the screen, and the operating system which is currently the Gingerbread operating system, but it will be updated to the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich operating system in 2012. The battery should last you about two days max with normal use, although most users will need to plug it in to recharge nightly to be safe.

So has Motorola succeeded in reclaiming the prestige that once belonged to the RAZR brand? Unequivocally, yes -- the handset is just physically stunning. It's thinner than almost any phone on the market and makes no sacrifices to attain its slim physique. It's solidly constructed from premium materials like diamond-cut aluminum, Gorilla Glass and a sheet of super-slick Kevlar. Few phones out there can even be put in the same category when it comes to build quality. It's not the most ergonomically sound handset on the market, but for those who cherish form over function (the very targets of a so-called fashion device), that's a sacrifice worth making.

Don't get us wrong -- the RAZR's beauty is not only skin deep. The LTE radio, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM make sure this sleek number is ready to run with the big boys. It kept pace with, and in some cases clearly outclassed its high-end competition. Despite its deficiencies in the display department and underwhelming battery life, the RAZR looks to be a perfectly viable alternative when considering the similarly-pricey Rezound and Galaxy Nexus, but we'll have to wait for our full reviews of those devices to say for sure. And don't forget: this one will only get better when ICS comes to Moto's slim slab of sexy.

Verizon Droid Razr Review from LA Times

The LA Times technology writer Nathan Olivarez-Giles has reviewed the Verizon Razr with a fairly positive review although he doesn't like the screen resolution and says that it pales in comparison with the Samsung Galaxy II and the Droid Bionic.

Compared with these three top handsets, the Razr's screen looks dated and not worth the $300 asking price.
Every time you use a smartphone, you're looking at its screen. If you don't like what you're looking at, well, that's a deal breaker. It's about equal to hating the seats, steering wheel and dashboard of the car you drive each day.

If the Razr's screen would have just matched the look of the Droid Bionic, the Razr could be challenging the Samsung Galaxy S II as my favorite Android on the market. Instead, the Razr leaves me wondering what could have been and hoping for an improved Razr 2 some day.

The thing is, most of the comments on this piece tear apart the writer of the article, most of them agree that the Verizon Razr has an amazing screen compared to the other models available on the market?
